“For I am the Lord, I change not; therefore ye sons of Jacob are not consumed.”
Theres a false doctrine out there which teaches God doesn’t have the ability to hate. It ties in with the false belief of “hate the sin, love the sinner”. Don’t get me wrong, Jesus is love, full of grace and mercy but it’s just crazy to believe He doesn’t have the ability to hate. So Hitler, Obama, Hillary Clinton, Alisiter Crowley, Anton LeVey, Kim Il Sung, Mao Zedong are all apparently loved by God according to these people. But is this what the bible teaches? Absolutely not! God is love (1 John 4:8) but He also hates all workers of iniquity. Wicked people can get to a point where God will hate them and scripture proves this without doubt. Before getting into scripture I’d like to point out the hypocrisy of people who teach and believe “hate the sin, love the sinner”. There isn’t a person on the face of the earth that doesn’t have hate toward someone or something, so as sweet as this false belief sounds, it simply doesn’t match up to our reality and our nature as humans and definitely doesn’t match up to Gods nature. God is love, but he also has the ability to hate.
3 To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven:
2 A time to be born, and a time to die; a time to plant, and a time to pluck up that which is planted;
3 A time to kill, and a time to heal; a time to break down, and a time to build up;
4 A time to weep, and a time to laugh; a time to mourn, and a time to dance;
5 A time to cast away stones, and a time to gather stones together; a time to embrace, and a time to refrain from embracing;
6 A time to get, and a time to lose; a time to keep, and a time to cast away;
7 A time to rend, and a time to sew; a time to keep silence, and a time to speak;
8 A time to love, and a time to hate; a time of war, and a time of peace.
What about John 3:16??
The first verse someone will bring up to say God loves everyone is the most famous verse in the bible, John 3:16. But is John 3:16 really saying that God loves (present tense) everyone?
“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
Loved- past tense
First point to make about this verse is; the bible doesn’t say “God loves everyone.” It says “For God so loved the world…” If I say “I loved ice cream” that implies that I no longer love ice cream but I use to. No one would interpret me saying “I loved ice cream” as I presently still love ice cream. So why do people interpret John 3:16 as God loves everyone?
Another reason John 3:16 doesn’t prove God loves everyone is because it says “that whosoever believeth in him should not perish….”
In verse 15 it says the same…”15 That whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have eternal life.”
Whosoever is not everyone. Whosoever believes will be saved and whoever doesn’t believe will parish.
“He that believeth on the Son hath everlasting life: and he that believeth not the Son shall not see life; but the wrath of God abideth on him.”
“He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.”
“He that believes” is not everyone…
“The foolish shall not stand in thy sight: thou hatest all workers of iniquity.”
“For the wicked boasteth of his heart’s desire, and blesseth the covetous, whom the Lord abhorreth.”
Strong’s Concordance for abhor: gaal- to abhor, loathe
Short Definition: loathed
- loathed: feel intense dislike or disgust for
“The Lord trieth the righteous: but the wicked and him that loveth violence his soul hateth.”
“I have hated the congregation of evil doers; and will not sit with the wicked.”
“I have hated them that regard lying vanities: but I trust in the Lord.”
“There were they in great fear, where no fear was: for God hath scattered the bones of him that encampeth against thee: thou hast put them to shame, because God hath despised them.”
“When God heard this, he was wroth, and greatly abhorred Israel:”
So according to Psalm 78:59 it’s even possible that God hates whole nations and with the times we’re living in now, where wickedness has spread all throughout the world, I think it’s safe to say that God hates a lot of nations today. It’s ridiculous to think that God hates the physical land of the nation so the only other way to interpret that is God hates a whole nation of people!
“Therefore was the wrath of the Lord kindled against his people, insomuch that he abhorred his own inheritance.”
“Through thy precepts I get understanding: therefore I hate every false way.”
“Therefore I esteem all thy precepts concerning all things to be right; and I hate every false way.”
“I hate and abhor lying: but thy law do I love.”
“I hate vain thoughts: but thy law do I love.”
“Let love be without dissimulation. Abhor that which is evil; cleave to that which is good.”
20 For they speak against thee wickedly, and thine enemies take thy name in vain.
21 Do not I hate them, O Lord, that hate thee? and am not I grieved with those that rise up against thee?
22 I hate them with perfect hatred: I count them mine enemies.
Once again we see God hating a nation of people in Leviticus…
“And ye shall not walk in the manners of the nation, which I cast out before you: for they committed all these things, and therefore I abhorred them.”
“And I will destroy your high places, and cut down your images, and cast your carcases upon the carcases of your idols, and my soul shall abhor you.”
“And when the Lord saw it, he abhorred them, because of the provoking of his sons, and of his daughters.”
6 things God hates and 7 are an abomination
16 These six things doth the Lord hate: yea, seven are an abomination unto him:
17 A proud look, a lying tongue, and hands that shed innocent blood,
18 An heart that deviseth wicked imaginations, feet that be swift in running to mischief,
19 A false witness that speaketh lies, and he that soweth discord among brethren.
He that is abhorred by the Lord shall fall in a deep pit…
“The mouth of strange women is a deep pit: he that is abhorred of the Lord shall fall therein.”
“And he hath violently taken away his tabernacle, as if it were of a garden: he hath destroyed his places of the assembly: the Lord hath caused the solemn feasts and sabbaths to be forgotten in Zion, and hath despised in the indignation of his anger the king and the priest.”
In Hosea we see a people who God once loved but now he hates them. This proves that God can love someone and eventually stop extending his love and turn to hate.
“All their wickedness is in Gilgal: for there I hated them: for the wickedness of their doings I will drive them out of mine house, I will love them no more: all their princes are revolters.”
God hates those who hates him…
“Three shepherds also I cut off in one month; and my soul lothed them, and their soul also abhorred me.”
God hates Esau….
“And I hated Esau, and laid his mountains and his heritage waste for the dragons of the wilderness.”
“As it is written, Jacob have I loved, but Esau have I hated.”
“Lest there be any fornicator, or profane person, as Esau, who for one morsel of meat sold his birthright.”
“Ye that love the Lord, hate evil: he preserveth the souls of his saints; he delivereth them out of the hand of the wicked.
“Hate the evil, and love the good, and establish judgment in the gate: it may be that the Lord God of hosts will be gracious unto the remnant of Joseph.”
“But this thou hast, that thou hatest the deeds of the Nicolaitanes, which I also hate.”
“So hast thou also them that hold the doctrine of the Nicolaitanes, which thing I hate.”
“The fear of the Lord is to hate evil: pride, and arrogancy, and the evil way, and the froward mouth, do I hate.”
1 Corinthians 15:1-4
15 Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand;
2 By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain.
3 For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures;
4 And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures:
BELIEVE IN JESUS AND THE GOSPEL AND YE SHALL BE SAVED!
1 John 5:13
“These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God.”
