Mark 4

Mark 4 is about the preaching of the gospel and the 4 places the seeds fell.

  1. By the wayside
  2. On stone ground
  3. In the thorns
  4. Good ground

4 chambers of the heart that blood flows. Believing in the gospel must come from the heart.

8 But what saith it? The word is nigh thee, even in thy mouth, and in thy heart: that is, the word of faith, which we preach;

9 That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.

10 For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. — Romans 10:8-10

Genesis 4

4th Chapter in the bible and the Gospel

The 4th chapter of the bible has a representation of the gospel thats quite remarkable. In Genesis 4 Abel is killed by his own brother Cain. Abel is a type of Christ, meaning a lot of similar things happened in his life that also happened in the life of Jesus.

  • Abel was a shepherd (Genesis 4:2).
  • Jesus is our shepherd. “I am the good shepherd: the good shepherd giveth his life for the sheep.“-John 10:11
  • Abel presented his offering to God and it was accepted over Cain’s. (Genesis4:4)
  • Jesus was an offering and sacrifice for all sins that God will only accept”And walk in love, as Christ also hath loved us, and hath given himself for us an offering and a sacrifice to God for a sweet-smelling savor.”- Ephesians 5:2
  • Abel was hated and killed by his own for no cause (Genesis 4:8)
  • Jesus was hated and killed by his own for no cause “But this cometh to pass, that the word might be fulfilled that is written in their law, They hated me without a cause.“-John 15:25
  • Cain is of the wicked one/Satan.“Not as Cain, who was of that wicked one, and slew his brother. And wherefore slew he him? Because his own works were evil, and his brother’s righteous.”-1 John 3:12
  • He has a mark associated with him like satan and the antichrist. (Genesis 4:15)
Genesis 4:5 says that Cain’s countenance fell. Satan fell from heaven.

1 John 3:12

“Not as Cain, who was of that wicked one, and slew his brother. And wherefore slew he him? Because his own works were evil, and his brother’s righteous.”

occurs 20 times in 17 verses in the KJV.

“cain” (3+1+9+14)= 27 (ordinal)

“cain” (3+1+9+5)= 18…6+6+6= 18 (reduction)

The gospel is based on the blood of Jesus and without his blood there is no gospel. “And almost all things are by the law purged with blood; and without shedding of blood is no remission.”-Hebrews 9:22 (2+2=4)

Hebrews 11:4…11×4= 44

“By faith Abel offered unto God a more excellent sacrifice than Cain, by which he obtained witness that he was righteous, God testifying of his gifts: and by it he being dead yet speaketh.”

Notice in Hebrews 11:4 it says Abel being dead still speaks. How is this possible? Because its the blood that speaks! Genesis 4:10 says the voice of Abel’s blood that crieth from the ground.

Genesis 4:10…4×10= 40

“And he said, What hast thou done? the voice of thy brother’s blood crieth unto me from the ground.”

Its the blood of Jesus that still speaks today and its the only offering that can take away the sins of the world. The story of Cain and Abel points us to the blood of Jesus because it shows that even with how good Abel’s offering was to God that Jesus offering speaks greater. It shows the new covenant God made and that the blood of animals or anything else didn’t compare to the blood of Jesus.

Hebrews 12:24

“And to Jesus the mediator of the new covenant, and to the blood of sprinkling, that speaketh better things than that of Abel.”

Hebrews 10:4

“For it is not possible that the blood of bulls and of goats should take away sins.”

Jesus is the 4th in the fire that saves Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego.
Daniel 3:25

“He answered and said, Lo, I see four men loose, walking in the midst of the fire, and they have no hurt; and the form of the fourth is like the Son of God.”

Numbers: 4th Book of the bible and the Gospel

In Numbers 20 God is so mad at the Isralites that he makes them walk in the wilderness for 40 days. After a while in the wilderness they start complaining to God and as punishment God sent serpents to kill thousands of them.

Numbers 21:5-6

“5 And the people spake against God, and against Moses, Wherefore have ye brought us up out of Egypt to die in the wilderness? for there is no bread, neither is there any water; and our soul loatheth this light bread.

But when the Israelites cried out and confessed of their sin God sends them a remedy. Thats the same way it is now. You have to confess you are a sinner and realize you need saving before Jesus can save you.

6 And the Lord sent fiery serpents among the people, and they bit the people; and much people of Israel died.”

Numbers 21:7

“Therefore the people came to Moses, and said, We have sinned, for we have spoken against the Lord, and against thee; pray unto the Lord, that he take away the serpents from us. And Moses prayed for the people.”

Number 21:8-9 we find out that the remedy God sends the Israelites is symbolic of the gospel and the remedy God sent all of mankind.

Numbers 21:8-9

“And the Lord said unto Moses, Make thee a fiery serpent, and set it upon a pole: and it shall come to pass, that every one that is bitten, when he looketh upon it, shall live.

9 And Moses made a serpent of brass, and put it upon a pole, and it came to pass, that if a serpent had bitten any man, when he beheld the serpent of brass, he lived.”

In Genesis 3:18 it says that God cursed the ground and thats where thorns and thistles come from. Not only did Jesus take all of your sins to the cross but he literally wore the curse with the crown of thorns.

Colossians 2:14-15

14 Blotting out the handwriting of ordinances that was against us, which was contrary to us, and took it out of the way, nailing it to his cross;

15 And having spoiled principalities and powers, he made a shew of them openly, triumphing over them in it.”

The serpent represents sin so what we see in the 4th book of the bible is a representation of the gospel by the serpent on the pole. John 3:14 makes the comparison of the serpent on the pole being lifted up and Jesus on the cross.

John 3:14-15- 4th book of the New Testament

“And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the Son of man be lifted up:

15 That whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have eternal life.”

The 4th chapter of the bible and the 4th book of the bible both relate to the gospel. Jesus loves us so much he took all the sins of mankind on his shoulders and became the ultimate sacrifice. All throughout the bible God shows that he’s always had a plan to save us from sin and points to Jesus as the remedy. The wages of sin is death but through Him we have the gift of eternal life. Glory to God to whom all praise is due! Amen and amen.

John 1:29

“The next day John seeth Jesus coming unto him, and saith, Behold the Lamb of God, which taketh away the sin of the world.”

“Lamb” capitalized referring to Jesus is mentioned 28 times (4×7=28)
