The Godhead (3 in 1)

For there are three that bear record in heaven, the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost: and these three are one. — 1 John 5:7

The doctrine of the trinity is also known as the 3 in 1 manifold nature of the Godhead. This doctrine has always been under attack because it’s a crucial and core Christian doctrine. The trinity doctrine is one of those doctrines that make Christianity vastly different from all the other religions of the world. Which is one reason why the mormons and Jehovah witnesses are NOT Christians but I’ll save that for another post. The point of this post is to prove without doubt that God is made up of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit and that these 3 are 1. The point of this post is to prove that Jesus is God in flesh and that in Him dwelth all of the fullness of the Godhead bodily.

John 1:1-4

1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.

2 The same was in the beginning with God.

3 All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made.

John 1:14

And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.

John 6:63

It is the spirit that quickeneth; the flesh profiteth nothing: the words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life.

The word of God is spirit and it is life. John 1:1 says the word was in the beginning with God and that the word was God. John 1:14 says the word became flesh and dwelt among us.

  1. Jesus = God
  2. Jesus = word of God
  3. Word of God = Spirit

Father, Son and Holy Spirit

1 Timothy 3:16

And without controversy great is the mystery of godliness: God was manifest in the flesh, justified in the Spirit, seen of angels, preached unto the Gentiles, believed on in the world, received up into glory.

  1. God
  2. manifest in flesh (JESUS)
  3. justified in the Spirit

Matthew 28:19-20

19 Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost:

20 Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world. Amen.

— Notice in 2 Corinthians 13:14 it mentions Jesus (the Son of God) and then it says “the love of God and the communion of the Holy Ghost…”

2 Corinthians 13:14

14 The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the communion of the Holy Ghost, be with you all. Amen.

Matthew 3:16-17

16 And Jesus, when he was baptized, went up straightway out of the water: and, lo, the heavens were opened unto him, and he saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove, and lighting upon him:

17 And lo a voice from heaven, saying, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.

  1. Jesus — the Son of God
  2. Spirit of God — Holy Spirit
  3. Voice from heaven — God the Father

1 John 5:7

For there are three that bear record in heaven, the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost: and these three are one.

John 8:17-18

17 It is also written in your law, that the testimony of two men is true.

18 I am one that bear witness of myself, and the Father that sent me beareth witness of me.

1 John 2:23

Whosoever denieth the Son, the same hath not the Father: he that acknowledgeth the Son hath the Father also.

If you deny the Son then you don’t have the Father. What part of 1 John 2:23 do zionist dispensational Christians not understand? The Christ rejecting Jews deny Jesus therefore they aren’t under his blessing but they are actually under his wrath.

John 3:36

He that believeth on the Son hath everlasting life: and he that believeth not the Son shall not see life; but the wrath of God abideth on him.

1 Thessalonians 2:14-16

14 For ye, brethren, became followers of the churches of God which in Judaea are in Christ Jesus: for ye also have suffered like things of your own countrymen, even as they have of the Jews:

15 Who both killed the Lord Jesus, and their own prophets, and have persecuted us; and THEY PLEASE NOT GOD, and are contrary to all men:

16 Forbidding us to speak to the Gentiles that they might be saved, to fill up their sins alway: for the wrath is come upon them to the uttermost.

1 John 5:12

He that hath the Son hath life; and he that hath not the Son of God hath not life.

— Jesus, Holy Spirit, the Father

Ephesians 2:18

For through him we both have access by one Spirit unto the Father.

Ephesians 4:3-6

3 Endeavouring to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace.

4 There is one body, and one Spirit, even as ye are called in one hope of your calling;

5 One Lord, one faith, one baptism,

6 One God and Father of all, who is above all, and through all, and in you all.

Galatians 4:6

And because ye are sons, God hath sent forth the Spirit of his Son into your hearts, crying, Abba, Father.

In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth. — Genesis 1:1

And God said, Let US make man in OUR image, after OUR likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth. — Genesis 1:26

  • Us, our, our — plural
  • Notice how there are 3 plural words to describing the one God who created the heaven and the earth.

Genesis 3:22

And the Lord God said, Behold, the man is become as one of US, to know good and evil: and now, lest he put forth his hand, and take also of the tree of life, and eat, and live for ever:

Genesis 11:5-7

5 And the Lord came down to see the city and the tower, which the children of men builded.

6 And the Lord said, Behold, the people is one, and they have all one language; and this they begin to do: and now nothing will be restrained from them, which they have imagined to do.

7 Go to, let US go down, and there confound their language, that they may not understand one another’s speech.

Psalm 2:6-7

6 Yet have I set my king upon my holy hill of Zion.

7 I will declare the decree: the Lord hath said unto me, (Thou art my Son;) this day have (I begotten thee.)

Proverbs 30:4

4 Who hath ascended up into heaven, or descended? who hath gathered the wind in his fists? who hath bound the waters in a garment? who hath established all the ends of the earth? what is his name, and (what is his son’s name, if thou canst tell?)

Daniel 3:25

25 He answered and said, Lo, I see four men loose, walking in the midst of the fire, and they have no hurt; and the form of the fourth is like the Son of God.

Micah 5:2

But thou, Bethlehem Ephratah, though thou be little among the thousands of Judah, yet out of thee shall he come forth unto me that is to be ruler in Israel; whose goings forth have been from of old, from everlasting.

In the wilderness tabernacle you have a representation of the Godhead

  1. God the Father symbolizing the Ark. Gods mercy seat and throne.
  2. Jesus symbolizing the table of bread: “And Jesus said unto them, I am the bread of life: he that cometh to me shall never hunger; and he that believeth on me shall never thirst.“-John 6:35
  3. The Spirit symbolizes the candlesticks. 7 candles, 7-number of the spirit. 7 spirits of God-“And I beheld, and, lo, in the midst of the throne and of the four beasts, and in the midst of the elders, stood a Lamb as it had been slain, having seven horns and seven eyes, which are the seven Spirits of God sent forth into all the earth.”- Revelation 5:6

Deuteronomy 16:16

Three times in a year shall all thy males appear before the Lord thy God in the place which he shall choose; in the feast of unleavened bread, and in the feast of weeks, and in the feast of tabernacles: and they shall not appear before the Lord empty:

3 times in a year

  1. feast of unleavened bread — Passover: lamb/ Jesus Christ
  2. feast of weeks — Pentacost: outpour of the Holy Spirit
  3. feast of tabernacles — God himself dwelling with us on the new heaven and earth

3rd day of Creation God creates seeds.

“Seeds” show up 3 times in Genesis 1:11-13

SEED (19+5+5+4)= 33 (ordinal)

Genesis 1:11-13

11 And God said, Let the earth bring forth grass, the herb yielding seed, and the fruit tree yielding fruit after his kind, whose seed is in itself, upon the earth: and it was so.

12 And the earth brought forth grass, and herb yielding seed after his kind, and the tree yielding fruit, whose seed was in itself, after his kind: and God saw that it was good.

13 And the evening and the morning were the third day.

1 Corinthians 15:36-38

36 Thou fool, that which thou sowest is not quickened, except it die:

37 And that which thou sowest, thou sowest not that body that shall be, but bare grain, it may chance of wheat, or of some other grain:

38 But God giveth it a body as it hath pleased him, and to every seed his own body.

Think about how when people die our body is put in the ground just like a seed. Jesus gives eternal life to those that believe on him. Our dead bodies is just like the seed coat that we all must shed and when you accept Jesus Christ as your savior he gives life to your spirit.

The seed coat — symbolic for our bodies that will eventually die off. “We are confident, I say, and willing rather to be absent from the body, and to be present with the Lord. ” — 1 Corinthians 5:8

21 If so be that ye have heard him, and have been taught by him, as the truth is in Jesus:

22 That ye put off concerning the former conversation the old man, which is corrupt according to the deceitful lusts;

23 And be renewed in the spirit of your mind;

24 And that ye put on the new man, which after God is created in righteousness and true holiness. — Ephesians 4:21-24

The embryo — symbolic for our spirits that God gives life to and preserves…”Thou hast granted me life and favour, and thy visitation hath preserved my spirit.” — Job 10:12

The embryo/ baby plant is the life of the seed!

It is the spirit that quickeneth; the flesh profiteth nothing: the words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life. — John 6:63

Stored food — symbolic for our soul. You feed your soul by reading Gods word…”And Jesus answered him, saying, It is written, That man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word of God.” — Luke 4:4

Wherefore lay apart all filthiness and superfluity of naughtiness, and receive with meekness the engrafted word, which is able to save your souls. — James 1:21

For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart. — Hebrews 4:12

3 in 1 concept throughout Creation

— Solid, Liquid, Gas

— Body, Soul, Spirit

— Past, Present, Future

— Red, Green, Blue

— Childhood, Adolescence, Adulthood

— Fruit skin, Fruit Flesh, Fruit Seeds

— Egg Shell, Egg white, Egg yoke

— Plant roots, Plant stem, Plant flower

Jesus is called the Son of God because he has no earthly father. Jesus was conceived in the womb of Mary by the Holy Ghost therefore he is begotten of the Father and called the Son of God.

Luke 1:34-35

34 Then said Mary unto the angel, How shall this be, seeing I know not a man?

35 And the angel answered and said unto her, The Holy Ghost shall come upon thee, and the power of the Highest shall overshadow thee: therefore also that holy thing which shall be born of thee shall be called the Son of God.

Hebrews 1:8-9

8 But unto the Son he saith, Thy throne, O God, is for ever and ever: a sceptre of righteousness is the sceptre of thy kingdom.

9 Thou hast loved righteousness, and hated iniquity; therefore God, even thy God, hath anointed thee with the oil of gladness above thy fellows.

  • Oil is symbolic of the Holy Spirit.

1 Samuel 10:1

Then Samuel took a vial of oil, and poured it upon his head, and kissed him, and said, Is it not because the LORD hath anointed thee to be captain over his inheritance?

Acts 10:38

 How God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Ghost and with power: who went about doing good, and healing all that were oppressed of the devil; for God was with him.3 Wherefore, holy brethren, partakers of the heavenly calling, consider the Apostle and High Priest of our profession, Christ Jesus;

Hebrews 3:1-4 flat out tells us that Jesus is God because notice how verse 3 says Jesus is counted more worthy than Moses just as the man who builded the house has more honour than the house. He that built all things is God and Jesus created all.

Hebrews 3:1-4

2 Who was faithful to him that appointed him, as also Moses was faithful in all his house.

3 For this man was counted worthy of more glory than Moses, inasmuch as he who hath builded the house hath more honour than the house.

4 For every house is builded by some man; but he that built all things IS GOD.

— Now compare Hebrews 3:1-4 with Colossians 1:12-17

Colossians 1:12-17

12 Giving thanks unto the Father, which hath made us meet to be partakers of the inheritance of the saints in light:

13 Who hath delivered us from the power of darkness, and hath translated us into the kingdom of his dear Son:

14 In whom we have redemption through his blood, even the forgiveness of sins:

15 Who is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of every creature:

16 For by him were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether they be thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers: all things were created by him, and for him:

17 And he is before all things, and by him all things consist.

— Colossians 1:12-17 is in reference to Jesus Christ!

14 That thou keep this commandment without spot, unrebukable, until the appearing of our Lord Jesus Christ:

15 Which in his times he shall shew, who is the blessed and only Potentate, the King of kings, and Lord of lords;

16 Who only hath immortality, dwelling in the light which no man can approach unto; whom no man hath seen, nor can see: to whom be honour and power everlasting. Amen.

2 Peter 1:1

Simon Peter, a servant and an apostle of Jesus Christ, to them that have obtained like precious faith with us through the righteousness of God and our Saviour Jesus Christ:

23 Behold, a virgin shall be with child, and shall bring forth a son, and they shall call his name Emmanuel, which being interpreted is, God with us.

Colossians 1:16

For by him were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether they be thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers: all things were created by him, and for him:

John 5:17-18

17 But Jesus answered them, My Father worketh hitherto, and I work.

18 Therefore the Jews sought the more to kill him, because he not only had broken the sabbath, but said also that God was his Father, making himself EQUAL WITH GOD.

Philippians 2:5-7

5 Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus:

31 Then the Jews took up stones again to stone him.

32 Jesus answered them, Many good works have I shewed you from my Father; for which of those works do ye stone me?

33 The Jews answered him, saying, For a good work we stone thee not; but for blasphemy; and because that thou, being a man, makest thyself God.

John 14:6-7

  2. silver
  3. stone graven by art and man’s device

And the four beasts had each of them six wings about him; and they were full of eyes within: and they rest not day and night, saying, Holy, holy, holy, Lord God Almighty, which was, and is, and is to come. — Revelation 4:8

  • Notice “..Holy holy holy, Lord God Almighty.
  • Both 3 words \

“…which was, and is, and is to come.”-

  • Time comes in 3 forms: Past, present, future.

God is….

  1. Omniscient
  2. Omnipresent
  3. Omnipotent

Christ is 3 shepherds…

  1. The Good Shepherd-John 10:14-15 — about his death
  2. The Great Shepherd-Hebrews 13:20 — about his resurrection
  3. The Chief Shepherd-1 Peter 5:4 — about his glory

WE ARE 3 PART BEINGS (Body, Soul, Spirit)

To help someone understand the trinity you can liken the trinity to how we are 1 person made up of 3 different forms. Just as humans have 3 different parts that make up one  person, God has 3 different forms that all make up 1 God.

1 Thessalonians 5:23

And the very God of peace sanctify you wholly; and I pray God your whole spirit and soul and body be preserved blameless unto the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.

All bodies have 3 centers.

  1. Upper center
  2. middle center
  3. lower center

  1. Upper center-Brain
  2. Middle center-Heart
  3. Lower center- Generative system

Believing must come from the heart…

Romans 10:9

That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.

Ephesians 3:17

That Christ may dwell in your hearts by faith; that ye, being rooted and grounded in love

Romans 10:17

So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.

Proverbs 21:2

Every way of a man is right in his own eyes: but the Lord pondereth the hearts.

1 Corinthians 15:43-46

43 It is sown in dishonour; it is raised in glory: it is sown in weakness; it is raised in power:

44 It is sown a natural body; it is raised a spiritual body. There is a natural body, and there is a spiritual body.

45 And so it is written, The first man Adam was made a living soul; the last Adam was made a quickening spirit.

46 Howbeit that was not first which is spiritual, but that which is natural; and afterward that which is spiritual.

1 Corinthians 2:14

But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned.

But whosoever drinketh of the water that I shall give him shall never thirst; but the water that I shall give him shall be in him a well of water springing up into everlasting life. — John 4:1

H2O can also be likened unto the trinity.

— 2 hydrogens

— 1 oxygen

= 3

— Water comes in 3 forms

  1. liquid
  2. solid (ice)
  3. vapor

Jeremiah 17:13

O Lord, the hope of Israel, all that forsake thee shall be ashamed, and they that depart from me shall be written in the earth, because they have forsaken the Lord, the fountain of living waters.

He that believeth on me, as the scripture hath said, out of his belly shall flow rivers of living water.

For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even his eternal power and Godhead; so that they are without excuse: — Romans 1:20

Space has 3 parts: length, depth and width.-3D

Matter shows up in 3 forms: solid, liquid and gas

In these last days the attacks on the trinity doctrine have increased dramatically. The times have become so dark we now see so called “preachers” teaching that Jesus isn’t really God. False preachers like Sam Gipp are teaching multiple gospels, teaching that Jesus wasn’t suppose to be called Jesus, and he even teaches Jesus isn’t the messiah for all. False doctrines like the “dispensation doctrine” attack the deity of Jesus because it teaches that the people in the Old Testament were saved by faith and works because Jesus hadn’t yet came to earth and died for their sins. Jesus is from everlasting to everlasting. He knows the beginning to the end. The bible says the lamb (JESUS) was slain before the foundation of the world. “And all that dwell upon the earth shall worship him, whose names are not written in the book of life of the Lamb slain from the foundation of the world.”— Revelation 13:8

The Bible says in John 1:1-2 “In the beginning was the word and the word was with God and the word was God. The same was in the beginning with God. ” In verse 14 the bible says “the word became flesh and dwelt among us”.

God is not limited to time so just because Jesus hadn’t fulfilled the prophecy of coming to earth at a specific time in history to die for our sins and offer eternal life to those who believe on him, doesn’t mean he wasn’t able to save people from hell before that time because Jesus has always existed and people have always been saved by grace through faith. By Abraham belief on God it was accounted unto him for righteousness.

Galatians 3:6- 11

6 Even as Abraham believed God, and it was accounted to him for righteousness.

7 Know ye therefore that they which are of faith, the same are the children of Abraham.

8 And the scripture, foreseeing that God would justify the heathen through faith, preached before the gospel unto Abraham, saying, In thee shall all nations be blessed.

9 So then they which be of faith are blessed with faithful Abraham.

10 For as many as are of the works of the law are under the curse: for it is written, Cursed is every one that continueth not in all things which are written in the book of the law to do them.

11 But that no man is justified by the law in the sight of God, it is evident: for, The just shall live by faith.

Teaching that people weren’t saved until Jesus came to earth is attacking the deity of God! Jesus is from everlasting to everlasting! He is the beginning and the end! God knew who would believe on him before the foundation of the world. “And the scripture, foreseeing that God would justify the heathen through faith…” so why would someone create a false doctrine teaching that God’s saving power is limited to time?

1 John 5:10-11

10 He that believeth on the Son of God hath the witness in himself: he that believeth not God hath made him a liar; because he believeth not the record that God gave of his Son.

11 And this is the record, that God hath given to us eternal life, and this life is in his Son.

Hebrews 11:6

But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.
