The Sword of the Spirit

The KJV is the most powerful book ever printed for english speakers.  No other book can compare to the treasures found within the KJV pages. So it should be no surprise that no other book in the history of the world has outsold the KJV. The KJV has been read by more people than any other book. The power within the KJV has changed more lives than any of book. The question is how?

John 1:1

In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.

— The Word was in the beginning

— The Word was with God

— The Word was God

John 1:14

And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.

The Bible teaches from Genesis to Revelation that the Word of God is Jesus Christ and Jesus is of course God. I wont go into depth with this point because I’ve already sufficiently proved that Jesus Christ is the Word of God on another post and you can check that out at— https://truthseekerswebsite.com/2017/06/18/jesus-is-the-word-of-god/

However I will throw in another verse which absolutely proves Jesus is the Word of God just in case John 1:1 and John 1:14 weren’t enough….

Revelation 19:11-13

11 And I saw heaven opened, and behold a white horse; and he that sat upon him was called Faithful and True, and in righteousness he doth judge and make war.

12 His eyes were as a flame of fire, and on his head were many crowns; and he had a name written, that no man knew, but he himself.

13 And he was clothed with a vesture dipped in blood: and his name is called The Word of God.

So if Jesus is the Word of God and Jesus is God, and God is all powerful, then that means the Word of God is the most powerful book. No man will ever fully grasp the depths of Gods Word. The treasures are innumerable. God is the author of the Bible and he used men to write down his words in a book. See more at — https://truthseekerswebsite.com/2017/05/07/pure-preserved-and-perfect/

This post will share one of the treasures I’ve recently found with the Sword of the Spirit.  Buckle up buttercup…your mind is about to be blown.

All throughout the book of Judges there’s a cycle of ups and downs for the children of Israel. The children of Israel would get on the right path of serving and worshipping the one true God. While they followed Gods commandments they were blessed by God. But eventually the children of Israel would forget God and his blessings and they would start worshipping the pagan gods. When they turned their back on God, God punished them until they cried out to him for deliverance and followed His commandments again.

In Judges 3 we see this cycle….

Judges 3:12-23

12 And the children of Israel did evil again in the sight of the Lord: and the Lord strengthened Eglon the king of Moab against Israel, because they had done evil in the sight of the Lord.

— The children of Israel did evil in the sight of the LORD so the LORD strengthened their enemy King Eglon to rise up against Israel.

13 And he gathered unto him the children of Ammon and Amalek, and went and smote Israel, and possessed the city of palm trees.

14 So the children of Israel served Eglon the king of Moab eighteen years.

— Israel served King Eglon for 18 years

15 But when the children of Israel cried unto the Lord, the Lord raised them up a deliverer, Ehud the son of Gera, a Benjamite, a man lefthanded: and by him the children of Israel sent a present unto Eglon the king of Moab.

— The children of Israel cried out to the LORD and He sent them a deliverer named Ehud.

16 But Ehud made him a dagger which had two edges, of a cubit length; and he did gird it under his raiment upon his right thigh.

— Notice that Ehud made a dagger / sword of about 18 inches and placed it upon his right thigh.

17 And he brought the present unto Eglon king of Moab: and Eglon was a very fat man.

18 And when he had made an end to offer the present, he sent away the people that bare the present.

19 But he himself turned again from the quarries that were by Gilgal, and said, I have a secret errand unto thee, O king: who said, Keep silence. And all that stood by him went out from him.

20 And Ehud came unto him; and he was sitting in a summer parlour, which he had for himself alone. And Ehud said, I have a message from God unto thee. And he arose out of his seat.

— Ehud called the sword he had for Eglon ‘a message from God’…A message is also known as a Word. When you type a message you type words. When you speak a message you speak words. Music conveys a message with words.

2 Timothy 3:16

16 All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:

17 That the man of God may be perfect, thoroughly furnished unto all good works.

Judges 3:21-22

21 And Ehud put forth his left hand, and took the dagger from his right thigh, and thrust it into his belly:

22 And the haft also went in after the blade; and the fat closed upon the blade, so that he could not draw the dagger out of his belly; and the dirt came out.

— Notice the sword was thrusted into his belly and out of his belly came dirt.

Compare the story in Judges 3 with these verses…

Ephesians 6:17

And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God:

Hebrews 4:12

For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.

After comparing the story in Judges 3 with Ephesians 6:17 and Hebrews 4:12 we can see how this story also takes on a symbolic meaning. This is how….

— The Sword of the Spirit is the Word of God/ the Bible

— Apply this to the story in Judges…

— The dagger is symbolic for the sword because remember Ehud said to the king “I have a message/Word from the LORD unto thee”.

— The Bible makes a point to mention that Ehud used a two edged dagger

— Hebrews 4:12 says that the Word of God is sharper than any two edged sword

— The dagger/ sword pierced King Eglon and the dirt came out.

— When the sword of the spirit pierces our soul and spirit the dirt/sin cleans up. The Word of God cleans us. “For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.”

Psalm 119:9

Wherewithal shall a young man cleanse his way? by taking heed thereto according to thy word.

John 15:3

Now ye are clean through the word which I have spoken unto you.

The Word of God brings forth good works…

2 Timothy 3:16

16 All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:

17 That the man of God may be perfect, thoroughly furnished unto all good works.

When Jesus comes back a sword comes out of his mouth. Obviously this is symbolic because the sword that the LORD has used all throughout the Bible has been his Word.

Revelation 19:13-16

13 And he was clothed with a vesture dipped in blood: and his name is called The Word of God.

14 And the armies which were in heaven followed him upon white horses, clothed in fine linen, white and clean.

15 And out of his mouth goeth a sharp sword, that with it he should smite the nations: and he shall rule them with a rod of iron: and he treadeth the winepress of the fierceness and wrath of Almighty God.

16 And he hath on his vesture and on his thigh a name written, King Of Kings, And Lord Of Lords.

Jeremiah 25 makes 3 direct references of the LORDS Sword….

SWORD (1+5+6+9+4)= 25

Jeremiah 25:16

And they shall drink, and be moved, and mad, because of the sword that I will send among them.

Jeremiah 25:29

For, lo, I begin to bring evil on the city which is called by my name, and should ye be utterly unpunished? Ye shall not be unpunished: for I will call for a sword upon all the inhabitants of the earth, saith the LORD of hosts.

Jeremiah 25:31

A noise shall come even to the ends of the earth; for the LORD hath a controversy with the nations, he will plead with all flesh; he will give them that are wicked to the sword, saith the LORD.

Jeremiah 48:10

Cursed be he that doeth the work of the LORD deceitfully, and cursed be he that keepeth back his sword from blood.
